I am so excited to be reaching out to you in my new official capacity as the part-time Interim Executive Director for the Tucson LGBT Chamber of Commerce!
As you may know, the Gaymber has been working toward making this important hire all year, and I am honored to be filling this role in a temporary capacity in the upcoming months. We plan to seek a permanent hire for the role in the first quarter of next year. If you know of someone who would a good fit for this, please reach out to me or any member of the Board. Until that time, I look forward to connecting with you in community and working together to strengthen inclusivity in business here in this lovely place we call home.
So, what does this mean for you… “How can I help,” you ask? 😉
First, our goal is to continue to bring quality programming and events to our members and the community, focusing on intersectionality in the queer and allied community, with diversity, inclusion, equity and accessibility. We have some great ideas that we haven’t had capacity to execute until now. Interested in learning more? Have an idea of how the Gaymber can better serve the community? Want to get involved? My contact information is below!
Of course, ‘tis the season, and a great deal of my time over the next 6 weeks will be focused on the upcoming Cirque du SoGAYla on December 9th. This is going to be a smashing party!! We’ve rented out the entire Downtown Clifton! We will have performers from Cirque Roots and live music from Tucson Weekly’s Best Musical Act for the past three years, Miss Olivia and the Interlopers. We also are excited about a specially curated menu (think upscale Cirque) and a selection of wines from small BIPOC-owned vineyards. I have to say, we are in for a treat, y’all! And if you are looking for more of a cocktail-vibe, we have a few specialty drinks designed by our Potions & Elixirs sponsors! Want to create your own? We have 2 sponsorships left at this level. We also have just a few Velvet Den sponsorships remaining and some great VIP packages that include an overnight stay and mimosa brunch on Sunday. Want more details? Need inspiration? Wanna see our Pinterest while jamming to our special playlist? Check it out! I hope to see you all there!
Finally, we are seeking to fill some upcoming board and committee vacancies. We have a few Boardies who have moved away (we will miss you Chris C and Joanna!) and a few whose terms expire this year as well. If you are looking for a way to serve the community with some really fun people, hit me up! We will be kicking off new Board terms in January and will be focusing this year on moving from a fully-working board to a governing board. Sound interesting? Join us!
Thinking about getting involved? Want to get to know me? Do you like coffee or cocktails? 😊 Reach out! I am here to serve and could not be happier about this opportunity to engage in the community in this way.
With gratitude,
Rebecca Wicker
