I want to say Happy April but honestly sometimes it’s hard to find the queer joy, lately. It feels like every time we look up there’s more and more anti-trans legislation being introduced and more vitriolic (and hypocritical) rhetoric about drag in the news. We know advocacy is a long-game effort, but it’s still too easy to lose hope in the now. So – I want to take a moment to highlight some things that might quiet l’appel du vide.
February brings us so much! We are past all those silly New Year’s Resolutions and on to better ideas. February is Arizona Statehood Day…Happy Birthday State 48! February is also Black History Month. Join us in awareness and honoring our friends in this space. Remember to shop local black-owned businesses and help support our members (now and always).
What a weird whirlwind 2022 was. The Gaymber wasn’t immune to the whirlwind by any means, but I daresay ours was a little more colorful (and certainly more glittery) than others. It was a good year, finding our groove with in-person breakfasts again, growing our membership by over 30%, and increasing our social reach by leaps and bounds.
